On Saturday evening, December 2nd, Downtown Lakewood comes alive for Light Up Lakewood, a festive holiday kickoff and lighting ceremony. To make this an extra special event, the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce sponsors an essay contest for all fourth graders in town.

The topic of the essay is: “Why I Love Lakewood”

So if you are in fourth grade and love to write, or just plain love this town, let us hear about it! You can write about your favorite Lakewood celebrations, your neighborhood, the places you like to shop and eat, the people who live here…whatever you think is great about Lakewood. The winner will receive a cash prize of $100, ride in the Light Up Lakewood Parade, and help “flip the switch” on December 2nd to turn on the lights in Downtown Lakewood and LIGHT UP LAKEWOOD
