Lakewood Named as One of  Best Hometowns in Ohio
Sept. 2014: Ohio Magazine selected Lakewood as one of the Best Hometowns in Ohio. Lakewood will be one of five communities recognized in the November 2014 issue of Ohio Magazine.  Since 2006, Ohio Magazine has annually recognized places that reflect the values that make our state a great place to live: community spirit, education, entertainment, health and safety, businesses environment and cultural heritage. Each year, nomination are accepted from readers and website visitors. The Ohio Magazine editorial staff researches the communities and makes the final selections.

Lakewood Named #1 of “10 Most Exciting Places in Ohio”
May 2014: The Movoto Real Estate blog team identified seven criteria to showcase 10 exciting places in the great state of Ohio.  173 places were analyzed and ranked. Read about the criteria and the results that put Lakewood at #1 on the list, ahead of other cities including Oxford, Cleveland Heights, Sandusky and Kent.

Lakewood Named as One of Top Ten “Most Exciting Small Cities”
December 2013: Movoto used mathematical methods and six criteria “designed to put excitement into a tangible form” to analyze 140 cities with populations between 50,000 and 60,000 residents and came up with 10 “mini metros” that might be scaled down in size, but where people can still do some really big things. – read more.

Lakewood was voted Best Suburb by Scene Magazine readers in October of 2010. Citing Lakewood as diverse, culturally rich and unpretentious, they equated Lakewood to a charming, college town.

According to Travel & Leisure magazine, Lakewood, Ohio is one of 12 “Coolest Suburbs Worth a Visit” in the United States, along with places like Evanston, IL, Bellevue, WA, and Roswell, GA. The magazine highlights the Lakewood Band Shelter for their weekly summer concerts, Pier W, Melt Bar & Grilled, Lakewood’s well-established and thriving nightlife, gastronomic scene, and Lakewood’s sizeable gay and lesbian community.
